From the first episode you scream with tension and delight.

In 2014, the first season of Fargo left everyone speechless. It was an incredible crime story about a hitman who mercilessly killed his targets and pushed a clumsy insurance company to the dark side. Sometimes the series entertained with dark humor, sometimes it created wild tension as the audience squeezed into their chairs and tried not to breathe.

An amazing first season was followed by a good second, an acceptable third, and a disastrous fourth. Everyone had already decided that the series was doomed, but a new story began and immediately returned Fargo to greatness.

Fargo: where to look?

Fargo airs on FX. There are two episodes available so far, with the final one airing on January 16. There is no Russian dubbing, only subtitles.

The plot centers on the charming housewife Dot, played by Juno Temple (Ted Lasso’s Keely Jones). She takes care of her daughter, she cooks delicious pancakes and participates in social activities: for example, she buys new books for the library. The girl looks like an angel, but in reality she has many secrets. Why does anything become a weapon in her hands? Where did she learn to use a stun gun with such skill? What kind of strange sect do you dream about at night?

Unfortunately, one day a simple mistake causes Dot’s past to catch up with her. And now the girl fights threatening men, runs on glass, saves people from blood loss and shakes heavy bags of ice.

If you analyze the plot of the first episodes, nothing extraordinary happens. This is a nice but fairly simple crime story. However, how great it is presented!

Take the characters as an example. Dot quickly reveals herself to be a multifaceted child: she adores the child, dreams of peace, thinks well in a difficult situation, and collapses when the problems are behind her. At the end of the first episode, she gives a performance so disconcerting that she gives you goosebumps. This is probably the biggest role in Juno Temple’s career so far.

The rest of the heroes are no worse. The murderer smells of cold and death, the cult leader is annoying just by his appearance, the mother-in-law is immediately seen as a demon in a skirt: all these guys are easy on the eyes.

The villain is played by Mad Men’s Jon Hamm.

The series immediately evokes a storm of emotions.

The characteristic style of Fargo, which alternates dark humor and cruelty, is in force. The season begins with a school meeting, where discussion of pressing issues leads to a fight between teachers and parents. The show was comical.

Ten minutes later there is no trace of laughter left. You will see combat so intense that you will pray for the heroes and curse the villains. The confrontation is bloody, shocking, uncompromising: it immerses you so much in the series that you even worry about the poor guy who was stupid and took a bullet.

The secret is that thanks to the perfect direction and acting, you believe unconditionally in the plot of “Fargo.” The events are terrible, but very realistic. The traditional slogan at the beginning also works very well to set the mood. “This is a true story. At the request of the survivors, the names have been changed. Out of respect for the victims, the rest are shown as they really were.”

Fargo: is it worth watching?

Fargo looks to be one of the most impressive shows of the year so far, so it’s definitely not worth missing. Acting, skillful direction, high-quality filming – all this is worth it. We can only hope that the remaining episodes are just as interesting.
