Benavíndez defeated Andrade ahead of schedule and defended the WBC interim champion title – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

The fight took place in Las Vegas and at the beginning Andrade, 35, had a slight advantage. In the first three rounds he was at least not at all inferior to his opponent, but then the more active Benavindes managed to take the initiative and knocked down Andrade in the fourth round.

After this, the interim champion’s lead became overwhelming. At the end of the fifth round, the referee even warned Andrade’s corner that if the beating continued he would be forced to stop the fight. And after the sixth, he refused to continue the fight.

Benavíndez defended his right to fight against the Mexican Saúl Álvarez. He now has 28 wins in 28 fights and 24 of them are early.
