Minister Sikela: Czech companies have been buying gas from Russia again since October – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

According to him, the country does not need these purchases, since it already has all the reserves for the winter.

“Despite this, this week we learned from the monthly report of the Energy Regulatory Authority that since October some commercial companies began to supply us with gas from Russia,” Sikela wrote on his Facebook page (owned by Meta; banned in Russia for being an extremist organization). ).

He clarified that the share of natural gas from Russia in the total volume of supplies to the Czech Republic is 1.2 percent, RIA Novosti reports.

The minister recalled that the export of blue fuel to the European Union is not subject to sanctions, since several countries still cannot do without it. At the same time, he added that, despite the data on the resumption of purchases, the Czech Republic managed to “finally overcome dependence on Russian gas.” The main supplier is now Norway.

Recall that the Czech Republic was one of the drivers of the ban on gas supplies from the Russian Federation to Europe, as well as the introduction of a maximum price. In April, the country’s authorities announced a complete rejection of the Russian blue crowd. Until then, its share in the total volume of supplies to the Czech Republic was 97 percent.
