China accused the United States of invading its territorial waters with a destroyer – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

The Chinese military said on Saturday it had evacuated the US guided-missile destroyer USS Hopper after it illegally entered Chinese territorial waters off the Xisha Islands in the South China Sea.

The ship was expelled from Chinese waters.

Tian Junli, a southern zone officer of the PLA’s Southern Combat Command, said the military had deployed its naval and air forces to “track, monitor and warn” the ship.

He accused the United States of seeking “maritime hegemony” and “militarization of the South China Sea.”

Earlier, the Chinese Defense Ministry said Taiwan’s leadership was wasting taxpayers’ money on purchasing expensive weapons and bringing the island to a dangerous point. According to Wu Qian, a representative of the PRC security agency, “the leadership of the Taiwan Democratic Progressive Party neglects the safety and well-being of fellow Taiwanese.” Taiwanese authorities are recklessly spending “their taxpayers’ money, earned through blood and sweat,” buying weapons “at high prices,” Wu Qian added.
