Magomedkerimov became PFL champion for the second time.

On the night of November 25 in Washington (USA), the final of the Professional Fighters League (PFL) regular season was played at The Anthem stadium. The tournament featured decisive matches in six weight classes. In the welterweight division, the belt was contested by the Russian Magomed Magomedkerimov and the Swede Sadibu Si.

For Magomedkerimov, this was the second chance to become champion and receive a prize of 1 million dollars: in 2018, after signing up for the PFL promotion, he became champion by strangling Ray Cooper III. Subsequently, Magomed, nicknamed “Maga-Million”, reached the final in 2021, but there Cooper took revenge, knocking out the Russian fighter. This did not stop Magomedkerimov, after which he conceded five victories in a row and now again found himself in the final of the tournament.

Magomed already faced Sadibu Si en route to the 2021 final and then won by unanimous decision without problems. However, Xi has not lost in the PFL since then. The Swedish fighter became champion of the organization last season and now intended to repeat the success. This season, Sadibu has scored three victories, two of which came ahead of schedule, and the total winning streak has now reached seven fights. Furthermore, Xi had additional motivation in the form of the opportunity to take revenge on his attacker.

The combatants knew each other’s capabilities very well and started carefully. Xi tried to use his trump cards in the form of long levers and a kickboxing base, but Magomed was ready for this and quickly closed the distance, entering the clinch. The rivals remained in this position for more than a minute and a half, but in the end Magomedkerimov scored a takedown and, a few seconds later, another. Sadibu was prepared for this and escaped control both times. And the fighters took no risks in the standing position, although at the end of the round the Russian landed several good blows.

In the second round the situation did not change at all: Magomedkerimov was ready for the kicks, counterattacked them and tied up his opponent. Despite Sadibu’s size, the Russian was superior to him in physical strength and took advantage of it. But the Swede could not fully take advantage of his best qualities. And in the third round, Magomed put an end to the matter. Xi tried to knock his opponent down with kicks, but the Russian approached, punched him in the liver and began to back away. Magomedkerimov realized that the Swede was in trouble and rushed to finish him off. Sadibu tried to save himself in the fight, but in the end he gave his neck to the guillotine and allowed himself to be strangled.

Magomedkerimov confidently took the title fight, leaving no chance for the former belt holder. Sadibu Si never found the keys to the Russian, and Maga-million became the winner of the PFL season for the second time in his career and received a check worth 1 million dollars.
