Stage masters and young musicians will perform at the Denis Matsuev festival in Omsk – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

The festival lineup includes three concerts. The first day will be given only to young people. Sergei Davydchenko (first prize for piano) and George Harliono (second prize) will dedicate their program to Sergei Rachmaninoff. The pianists will present Paganini’s Rhapsody on a Theme, unique in style, concept and content, as well as one of the most performed works in the world: the Second Piano Concerto. The artists will perform accompanied by the Omsk Academic Symphony Orchestra under the direction of artistic director and chief conductor Dmitry Vasiliev.

The directly announced “dialogue of generations” will take place at the festival’s gala concert (December 1). On this day, Denis Matsuev, violinist Pavel Milyukov, the main soloist of the Mariinsky Theater Maria Bayankina, as well as the winner of the Tchaikovsky Competition on trumpet Semyon Salomatnikov and the piano laureate George Harliono will shine with their virtuosity. Accompanied by the Omsk Academic Symphony Orchestra, they will perform: Prokofiev’s First Piano Concerto, Bruch’s First Violin Concerto, Rachmaninoff’s romantic novel and “Burlesque” from Shostakovich’s First Violin Concerto, arranged for domra. Tonight Denis Matsuev will perform F. Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2.

And the third day of the festival will combine classical music and jazz. On the same stage as Denis Matsuev, Andrey Ivanov (double bass), Alexander Zinger (drums) and Borislav Strulev (cello) will demonstrate mastery of improvisation. The sound of the Russian folk instrument, the domra, played by Ekaterina Mochalova will add a special flavor to the evening.

The “Denis Matsuev Presents: Dialogue of Generations” festival was first held in March 2022. This year it will be held in 17 cities, opening up new opportunities and perspectives for solo concert activity. The festival is supported by the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives.
