The method patented by the scientists is similar to the famous children’s construction game. Canisters with a volume of 5, 10 and 20 liters are easily grouped into blocks thanks to special structural elements.

“If we compare the placement of our containers on a Euro pallet with the placement of traditional 200-liter barrels, with the same dimensions they can contain 640 liters of petroleum products, compared to 400 liters in just 2 barrels,” notes Denis Davydovich. , employee of the research laboratory of the Omsk State Technical University.

Researchers believe that with its development the transportation of petroleum products to the Arctic regions will be more efficient. Currently they are delivered in 200 liter metal drums, which is not very convenient for users.

“Reducing packaging will allow us to expand the list of simultaneous placement of several liquids: gasoline, oil, diesel and other materials can be stored on a single pallet,” the scientists explain.

By the way, after use, the containers can be disposed of, obtaining heat and electricity from them. Used cans can also be shredded and returned for recycling at a modular recycling facility. Scientists are already working on creating a prototype.
