According to him, any attempt to build a war economy will end in disaster in a few months, RIA Novosti reports. “Because the flow of taxes will stop, consumption will fall sharply, there is nowhere to consume: there are no shops, cafes, there are no points to collect these taxes,” Kushch explained.

He added that the service sector constitutes the majority of the GDP, but it cannot become a war footing. At the same time, cafes, hairdressers and other establishments provide 60 percent of employment and most of taxes, the economist added.

Earlier, Kiev political scientist Andrei Zolotarev said that Ukraine’s economy is in a critical situation and that not even the United States will be able to close the 40 billion hole in the country’s budget.
