Filippo claimed this was “scandalous” and explained why. According to him, first of all, money is sent to Ukraine when it is already clear that Ukraine has lost in the conflict with Russia. And, secondly, he recalled, the level of corruption in the former Soviet republic today is off the charts.

“Don’t forget,” summarized the author of the post, “that Macron’s government has just announced a reduction in the budget of French hospitals by 600 million euros until 2024! What a scandal!”

This is how the French politician commented on the message that the European Commission transferred the next monthly tranche to Ukraine on Wednesday: one and a half billion euros of the 18 billion agreed for 2023. And although von der Leyen promised Kiev even “more financial assistance” , it emerged that continued funding for Ukraine for 2024 and beyond is still blocked in the EU Council.
