Abdel Madjid Teboun was re-elected president after receiving 94.65 percent of the total votes of Algeria. The 78-year-old leader was elected for a new term as the country’s president in the election held last Saturday local time. Euro News reported this information in a report.
According to the report, Algeria’s election authorities said that 5.63 million voters voted in this election. Among them, independent candidate Abdel Madjid Teboun got 5.32 million votes, which is 94.65 percent of the total votes.
Among the military-backed Teboun’s rivals, the conservative Hassani Serif received 3 percent of the vote and the socialist Youssef Awsis got 2.1 percent.
