Spain won the gold medal by defeating France. The French beat the hosts 5-3 in the final. 32 years after the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, they won gold again in this event.
Among all the Olympic events, football has a special attraction. The football event took place two days before the start of the main event of this year’s Summer Olympics held in Paris. Spain went through the European qualifiers and took part in the main stage.
The final, held at the Parc des Princes in Paris, ended in a 3-3 draw at the end of the scheduled 90 minutes, and the match went into extra time. There, Sergio Kameo drowned in the disappointment of the French with a pair of goals.
It should be noted that this is now the most goals (8) final in boys’ Olympic football history. The final with the highest goal so far was 6 goals. Great Britain defeated Denmark 4–2 in the gold medal match of the 1912 Stockholm Olympics.
