There was a clash between police and protesters at Dhaka University. In response to the police’s sound grenades and tear shells, the students threw bricks and stones.
On Wednesday (July 17) the conflict between them started around 4:30 in the afternoon. Police detonated two sound grenades, followed by three more sound grenades at around 3 pm when the students wanted to gather at TSC around 2:40 PM to observe the pre-announced program (Gayba Janaza). Tearcells are also thrown at this time. The ordinary students were scattered.

If they could not perform Gaebana Janaza at TSC due to police obstruction, they performed Gaebana Janaza in front of the Vice-Chancellor’s residence. After the funeral, the students started the procession with the coffin on the campus.
The police threw sound grenades and tear shells one after the other in their procession. Now the students dispersed. But after a while, they gathered again in front of Surya Sen Hall. Meanwhile, students threw bricks at the police from the roof of the Modern Language Institute. A large number of police, RAB, and BGB have taken positions near the vice-chancellor’s residence.
