State media from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) has declared its strong denouncement and rejection of the Washington summit declaration issued by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) earlier this week

The Korean Central News Agency, citing a spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry, strongly criticized the Washington summit declaration, asserting that it portrays the United States and the transatlantic bloc as the foremost threats to global peace and security. The statement described the declaration as an unlawful document that infringes upon the sovereign rights of independent states, promoting a confrontational agenda that fuels global military tensions akin to a new Cold War.

According to the DPRK, US efforts to expand military alliances severely jeopardize regional stability, exacerbate international security conditions, and trigger a worldwide arms race. The DPRK warned of the dangers posed by the US-led NATO strategy of “globalization,” which it believes heightens the risk of a global conflict.

Furthermore, the DPRK accused Washington of continuously undermining the sovereignty and security interests of other nations, disrupting global strategic stability, and disregarding established principles of international law such as sovereignty, non-interference, equality, and mutual benefit.
