Mel’s baby dies at the end of Virgin River season 5. Mel is confirmed to have had a miscarriage.

When wildfires cause locals to become injured, Mel goes out of her way to help them. However, in doing so, she injures herself. She checks herself over and sees that she is bleeding, prompting her to perform an ultrasound to check the baby.

Upon performing the ultrasound, it becomes clear that the baby has died. With a heavy heart and clearly devastated, she continues to help treat the injured.
