Pedro Leandro Castro Pereira Araújo, 34 years old, physical education teacher and volleyball coach, is in police custody after suspected involvement in sexual crimes against at least 18 of his students, aged between 13 and 18. The events took place in the city of Anápolis, located 55 km from Goiânia.
According to delegate Jorge Bezerra, investigations reveal that Araújo won the friendship of the victims, aiming to establish a certain degree of “intimacy”, and, regrettably, took advantage of this relationship to commit abominable sexual acts.
The professor claimed that the massages were intended to “release the muscles” of the students, a justification that is now revealed to be a facade to cover up his reprehensible acts. In one of the shocking cases, Pedro allegedly took students to a room and asked them to remove their clothes, perpetrating sexual violence.
The criminal actions were not limited to the school environment, as police investigations indicate that they also occurred during rides offered by the suspect. The seriousness of the crimes led to the arrest of Pedro Leandro Castro Pereira Araújo last Friday, in Goiânia. During the search of his residence, authorities seized electronic devices for further analysis, after one of the victims reported that the suspect had displayed a photograph of another nude student.
The delegate explained that the investigation began after the school became aware of the complaints, which were made by the students themselves.
