The Federal District Military Fire Department (CBMDF) was called after a collision between an ambulance and a motorcycle, on BR-251, just after the border of the states of Goiás and the Federal District, on Wednesday night (21) . The accident occurred around 9:39 p.m.
The Fire Department Operations Center (COCB) received a call via emergency telephone 193, reporting a serious accident involving a Van ambulance and a motorcycle in Goiás territory. After a preliminary assessment, the 17th Military Firefighter Group (17GBM) of São Sebastião was called and quickly headed to the scene, being the unit closest to the incident.
At the scene of the accident, rescue teams found a black Yamaha/Factor motorcycle on the shoulder of the highway, with two victims seriously injured. One of them, aged 21, was declared dead at the scene by the doctor who was on board the ambulance involved in the collision.
The second victim, an unidentified man, around 35 years old, was in cardiorespiratory arrest (CRA). Rescue teams immediately began the cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) protocol and activated advanced life support (AVS). After the CBMDF doctor arrived, medications were administered in an attempt to stabilize the patient. However, after 30 minutes of intense effort, the PCR was reversed, but the patient, who had severe head trauma, was transferred to the Instituto Hospital de Base do Distrito Federal (IHBDF) in critical condition. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away in hospital.
It was impossible to identify the motorcycle rider and passenger, as both victims’ helmets were found in the vegetation after the shoulder, in the opposite direction to the collision.
The second vehicle involved in the accident was a white MB/Sprinter ambulance, belonging to the Municipal Government of Unaí – MG, which was carrying out an inter-hospital transport, taking a patient from the Emergency Care Unit (UPA) of São Sebastião to the Unaí Municipal Hospital – MG. The ambulance stopped on the highway shortly after the point of impact and was traveling in the same direction along the road.
