Interim coach, discredited team and pressure to be in the relegation zone. These are the challenges that Santos will face to begin a resumption in the Brazilian Championship this Monday, at 8 pm, at Fonte Nova, in order to change its history in recent rounds of the competition. For the match, more than 40 thousand tickets have already been sold.

The mission could not be worse for Marcelo Fernandes, interim chosen to replace former commander Diego Aguirre, fired on Friday. The scenario is very worrying, since in the last five games, the Santos team lost four and won only one. To make matters worse, on the other side, Bahia, now led by Rogério Ceni, is coming off a victory over Coritiba.

“The time is now for work and little talk. We know the potential of the squad and we will look for solutions to get out of this situation. Each game will be a decision for us”, said coach Marcelo Fernandes about Santos’ situation in the Brazilian Championship.

To tidy up the house in such a short time, Marcelo Fernandes is already signaling changes. The first of them is the return of Lucas Lima. Another change is tactical. He should use a scheme with three defenders, betting on Dodô’s improvisation in the defensive line and with Kevyson as the left winger. With 21 points, four less than Bahia, Santos is in 17th place and is the first team in the relegation zone.

Without Rodrigo Fernández and Mendoza, the good news is the return of Soteldo, who will form an attacking duo with Marcos Leonardo. As the coach expects a full house, he worked hard on marking in midfield and composing without the ball to withstand the pressure from the home team, especially at the beginning of the match.

Bahia has finished preparing for the game with Santos this Sunday. Coach Rogério Ceni worked with the squad divided into two groups and placed emphasis on finishing training and also offensive plays. In the activity, he also commanded a collective to work on the tactical part.

With the expectation of a full house for this Monday, Rogério Ceni must use an offensive scheme with three players in attack to try to force errors as soon as the opponent’s ball is released.
