A successful action by military police officers from the 9th Battalion’s Operational Tactical Group, known as Gtop 29, resulted in the seizure of a 22-caliber rifle in the East Sector of Gama. PMDF authorities received crucial information that an individual was openly carrying a weapon and that a shot had been fired at 10:30 am this Sunday.
The members of Gtop 29 acted promptly and located the suspect with the firearm in hand in an invasion area in the sector. Upon noticing the police approaching, the suspect discarded the shotgun and fled towards a dense forest area. A siege was quickly established at the location, but the suspect managed to escape and was not located.
During the seizure, the shotgun was found with a detonated ammunition in the chamber and another intact ammunition on the ground, increasing the seriousness of the situation. The weapon was duly collected by the authorities and delivered to the 20th Police Station, where investigations will continue to determine the origin and circumstances involved in the possession of the firearm.
