On the morning of this Monday (18), the Civil Police of the Federal District (PCDF), through an extensive investigation conducted by the 18th Police Station, launched “Operation Coyote”, culminating in the temporary arrest of six individuals involved in a high-level criminal organization. This criminal organization’s main activity was the simulation of automobile accidents and the destruction of vehicles with the aim of defrauding the receipt of insurance compensation.

According to information gathered during investigations, the organization had been in operation since 2015 and managed to fake an impressive 12 car accidents and the destruction of 25 vehicles, resulting in a fraudulent amount of R$2 million received from insurance companies.

These fake accidents occurred in several cities in the Federal District, including Brazlândia, Taguatinga, Ceilândia, Samambaia, Vicente Pires and Brasília, and involved high-end vehicles from the brands Porsche, BMW, Audi, Volvo and Mercedes.

The group operated as a permanent, stable, hierarchical and highly organized structure, with a clear division of tasks. At the head of the criminal organization were a businessman residing in Taguatinga and a former PMDF military police officer, on leave from the corporation due to the issuance of 150 bad checks. This duo was responsible for purchasing vehicles, falsely recording accidents, involving relatives and friends in fictitious accident records, taking out fraudulent insurance and receiving compensation from insurers.

The leaders’ wives also played a key role in the criminal operation, one of whom was a lawyer. They provided the personal data necessary to simulate the accidents, purchased the vehicles involved in the fraud, took out fraudulent insurance policies and received compensation.
