On the night of last Monday, September 18, a team of military police from the Motorized Tactical Ronda (ROTAM) carried out a heroic act by removing passengers from a burning bus and fighting the fire near Catetinho, on Estrada Parque Indústria and Supply (EPIA), while heading to Santa Maria.

Around 8 pm, the four police officers who made up the ROTAM team, on routine patrol, came across a bus with its rear wheel on fire and a dense smoke screen that spread throughout its interior.

After entering the burning bus, the police managed to remove around fifteen passengers, who were in a state of panic due to the chaotic situation. Armed with extinguishers, the PMs began fighting the fire, controlling the situation until the Federal District Military Fire Brigade (CBMDF) arrived.

The soldiers who carried out the rescue had to be taken to Hospital do Gama, showing symptoms of poisoning due to exposure to toxic smoke during the rescue.
