The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued, this Wednesday (20), an orange alert, which corresponds to “danger”, for temperatures 5ºC above average, in addition to low humidity. In this last week of winter, a large part of the country is expected to experience a heat wave.

According to the institute, in the next five days, the Federal District should experience a heat wave and the relative humidity of the air should vary between 20% and 12%. Therefore, attention to forest fires and health must be redoubled.

In addition to DF, the states of Pará, Tocantins, Goiás, Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Bahia, Piauí, Maranhão, Mato Grosso and Rio de Janeiro are also expected to suffer from high temperatures and low humidity.

Instructions

Inmet also released a series of instructions to be followed during this period:

  • Drink plenty of fluids;
  • Physical activities are not recommended;
  • Avoid exposure to the sun during the hottest hours of the day;
  • Use skin moisturizer and humidify the environment
  • Get more information from the Civil Defense (phone 199) and the Fire Department (phone 193).
