On the 28th, 29th and 30th of September, Brasília will host the IGXP Games Fair. Open to the public, the fair, dedicated to technology and video game enthusiasts, will be held at the Parque da Cidade Exhibition Pavilion.

The event will feature a range of attractions, including the presence of influencers, musical performances, cosplay competitions and CS:GO, Street Fighter 6, Just Dance, League of Legends, Valorant and Mortal Kombat 9 championships, with cash prizes. Everything was carefully planned to exceed the expectations of lovers of technology and geek culture.

The Fair will be attended by Marco Ribeiro (@marcodub), voice actor for Iron Man (Marvel); shows by the Maverick Hunters Band, specialized in covers of game songs, anime themes and geek culture in general; presentation of the character Batata (@_t.tata), a specialist in anime and cosplay; and also a cosplay contest, with cash prizes, for participants who wish to showcase their talents.

Those interested in participating in the competitions must register, according to the desired category, on the event website. Check out the options:

  • Arena gamer (PCs): with 20 machines, plus Lol, CS-GO and Valorant championships;
  • Arena gamer (console): with 8 video games and TVs, plus Street Fighter 6 and Mortal Kombat 9 championships;
  • K-pop contests: with categories for solo, pair or group performances;
  • Just Dance Championship: the championship will evaluate who has the best dance performance;
  • Robotics Championship: tournament in which students and teachers learn physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and language content;
  • Arduino Tournament: an engineering initiation competition, which aims to show its participants one of the various facets that this modality can acquire, using a robotics competition as its main motivator.

IGXP Games Brasília is completely free (with ticket collection at Sympla) and with free rating. The organizers promise an environment full of technology, entertainment, innovations and challenges. Created by the Instituto Líderes do Brasil (ILB) in collaboration with the State Secretariat for Science, Technology and Innovation of the Federal District (SECTI), the fair aims to expand business opportunities and disseminate geek culture in the country’s capital.

For one of the organizers, Daniel Lamounier, the event meets a significant demand in the Brasilia market and contributes to the dissemination of gamer culture, which still suffers from stigmatization, especially among older generations. “IGXP Games is another great opportunity for fans and those curious about technology and electronic games to learn about the latest news in the sector and have fun in a space created especially for this audience,” he says.

The event producer and segment entrepreneur, Jeeffrie Jammes, known as Jeef, reinforces that IGXP Games takes place to show that the gamer market is not just about fun. “Events like this can bring visibility and break paradigms on the topic. When talking about games, there is still a suspicion that the universe is just fun. However, currently, the segment is an extremely profitable industry, and the Federal District appears to stand out on the national scene,” he explains.

Still according to Jeef, the DF has companies that are references in the segment, both as developers and as schools that train labor for this industry. “Every day, institutions specializing in the field emerge. People are increasingly becoming professionals in this segment. It is a broad market that serves everyone, regardless of age”, he concludes.
