In reference to World Cleaning Day, the Water, Energy and Basic Sanitation Regulatory Agency of the Federal District (Adasa), the Urban Cleaning Service of the Federal District (SLU), the Environmental Sanitation Company of the Federal District (Caesb) and entities of civil society promoted the 11th Lago Limpo Week, in Pontão do Lago Sul. More than 700 kg of waste were removed, packaged and sent for sorting and gravimetric analysis to then be made appropriate disposal according to the class of waste .
The report presented by the company Suma Brasil, hired by SLU, presents the results of the gravimetric analysis and characterization of the waste collected in the action.
The analysis of the study was carried out within Transbordo do Gama, where the company SUMA Brasil carries out its operations. The material removed from Lake Paranoá was sent to the gravimetry area and packaged for sorting the materials. The waste was manually separated into the gravimetric classes pre-determined by SLU.
The region collected had the most significant percentages of metal, glass and plastic with 15.8%, 15% and 14.2% respectively. The waste that was most removed from the lake comprises the class of fabric, clothing, rubber and leather, representing 47.1% of the total, with 24 tires accounted for in this class.
According to the CEO of SLU, Silvio Vieira, the gravimetric analysis of the Lago Limpo event at Pontão do Lago Sul demonstrates that it is necessary to continue with socio-environmental education campaigns. “We will promote even more campaigns for the correct disposal of different types of materials. We ask for public awareness. Incorrect disposal can harm the environment and bring harm to the various uses of Lake Paranoá”, he highlights.
