The Public Defender’s Office of the Federal District (DPDF) will promote, this Tuesday (19), the responsible fatherhood event, which offers free DNA tests to the interested population. The action will take place from 9am to 4pm, in the side parking lot of the Santa Maria Community Restaurant, on Avenida Alagados, Especial Area, Quadra Central 1, Lot B, Galpão 3, 4 and 5, next to the Regional Administration.

Furthermore, the initiative aims to promote consensual conflict resolution. Pre-booking must be done in advance, using the numbers (61) 98240-3934 (WhatsApp only) and (61) 2196-4324 (call only). The action will have the support of the DF Public Defender’s Office van for assistance.

For the general public defender, Celestino Chupel, carrying out actions like this, which encourage dialogue and cooperation between the parties, is extremely important, especially with regard to parental ties. “The possibility of going through mediation offers an alternative that is more focused on those involved. Furthermore, it is a less stressful and faster process for the parties”, he highlighted.

Statistics

Statistics reveal a serious violation of one of the most important rights of personality: the right to know one’s own origin, ancestry, ancestry and, more than that, the right to affection, coexistence and rights arising from the duty of family solidarity.

According to the Civil Registry Transparency Portal, on the Absent Parents page, launched in March this year and part of the national platform administered by the National Association of Natural Persons Registrars (Arpen-Brazil), from January to September 11 this year, 123,792 certificates of birth were recorded without the father’s name, an increase of 5.15% when compared to the same period last year. Every day, there are almost 500 records made without identifying the child’s paternity.

The region that records the most children without their father’s name is the Southeast, with 33.76% of cases. The Northeast appears in second place with 29.88%, followed by the North, with 17.21%. In the Federal District, 1,700 children born this year only have their mother’s name on their birth certificate. The number, from civil registration offices in the DF, represents 5.8% of the total number of children born in the federal capital, a period in which more than 29,900 births were registered.
