The Government of Amazonas received the list with the names of 12 passengers who were on the small plane that crashed this Saturday (16) in the municipality of Barcelos (about 400 km from Manaus). The complete list was passed on by Manaus Aerotáxi, the company responsible for the aircraft.

The accident, with no record of survivors, left 14 people dead, including 12 passengers and two crew members. The full name of the two crew members was not disclosed: the pilot was identified by the surname Souza and the co-pilot as Galvão.

The passengers were, according to the company:
Euri Paulo dos Santos
Fabio Campos Assis
Fabio Ribeiro
Gilcresio Salvador Medeiros
Guilherme Boaventura Rabelo
Hamilton Alves Reis
Heudes Freitas
Luiz Carlos Cavalcante Garcia
Marcos de Castro Zica
Renato Souza de Assis
Roland Montenegro Costa
Witter Ferreira de Faria

Gilcresio Salvador Medeiros, 74, was a businessman and had his death confirmed by Pousada Serra da Mesa, in Niquelândia (GO), which he owned. Roland Montenegro Costa was a doctor from Brasília. Confirmation that he was on the aircraft was made by the Federal District Doctors Union.

Also on the plane was businessman Guilherme Boaventura Rabelo, who was a partner in a construction company in Uberlândia (MG), which worked in the real estate development sector. The information was confirmed by family members on social media.

Guilherme had sport fishing as a hobby and, in August 2021, he had made a similar trip to Barcelos (AM).
The plane was traveling from Manaus to the interior municipality. Barcelos is a destination that tends to attract visitors interested in sport fishing.

Initial information released by the state government shows that the group that suffered the accident was looking for this type of leisure in the region.

This Sunday (17), the Government of Amazonas sent teams to help transport the bodies of the victims of the plane crash. The operation takes place in an integrated manner with the Brazilian Air Force.

The teams have a staff of ten people from the Technical-Scientific Police Department, the Amazonas Military Fire Department and the Amazonas Civil Police and investigators from the Regional Service for the Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents.

The bodies will be taken to Manaus, where they will be examined by the Legal Medical Institute for identification and subsequent release to the families.

Aircraft did not have enough runway to brake, according to investigation
In a press conference on Saturday night (16), the Secretary of Public Security of Amazonas, Colonel Vinícius Almeida, stated that all passengers would be Brazilian tourists. He said there are still no conclusive details about the causes of the incident.

“The time of the accident was very heavy rain. It was reported that two aircraft that were before this flight chose to return to Manaus because security at the location did not allow them to land,” said the secretary.

“We don’t have details that could be conclusive. We have some reports. I want to not contaminate the investigation here. What there are reports is that the aircraft had landed in the middle of the runway and didn’t have enough runway to brake”, he said at another time.

In a statement, the FAB (Brazilian Air Force) informed that investigators from Seripa VII (Seventh Regional Service for the Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents) were called to carry out initial assistance in the incident.

According to the corporation, the accident involved the aircraft registered PT-SOG. Records from Anac (National Civil Aviation Agency) indicate that the plane was from Manaus Aerotáxi, with permitted air taxi operations.

The company regretted what happened in a note posted on social media. In the same statement, he declared that safety is his priority and that the aircraft and crew met all civil aviation requirements.

“We count on respecting the privacy of those involved in this difficult time and will be available to provide all necessary information and updates as the investigation progresses,” said the company.
