“Together with the LDPR team, we submitted a package of documents to the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation for registration as a candidate for the post of president of the country,” Slutsky said. “We have a large-scale and responsible election campaign ahead of us. We plan to travel to many regions of Russia, meet with residents, businessmen and the general public,” said the LDPR leader. He added that party activists will travel to cities and small towns to conduct a population study and identify the problems that concern people most, whose systemic solutions will become the LDPR’s program for the next period. “That is precisely the main job: reaching everyone who needs help. Chat rooms are not our style,” Slutsky emphasized.
Recall that the pre-election congress of the LDPR took place on December 19, the party leader and head of the Duma faction Leonid Slutsky received the support of all participants in the vote on the issue of the candidate for the post of President of Russia.
Also on Monday, State Duma Deputy Chairman Vladislav Davankov, who the day before was nominated for the post of President of the Russian Federation by the congress of the New People’s party, submitted documents to the CEC. “I submitted the documents and got to work. We have a big election campaign ahead of us, we won’t have any days off. I plan to travel personally to at least 30 regions. But thanks to trusted people and regional headquarters, we will cover all of Russia,” he said. Davankov told journalists. He said that the first trip will take place in his hometown, Smolensk. “I will go there with my son, because in the next three months we will rarely see each other,” the parliamentarian added.
Please note that it is not necessary to collect voter signatures to register a parliamentary party candidate. The candidate must personally submit to the Central Election Commission a package of documents that includes, among other things, the decision of the party congress on his nomination and a declaration of consent to run, information on the candidate’s income for six years and expenses of three years. When submitting documents, the candidate for the position of President of Russia must dispose of his foreign accounts and deposits, if he has them. The Central Election Commission of Russia, within 10 days of receiving the complete set of documents, makes a decision on the registration of the candidate. In case of refusal, the Central Electoral Commission must give a reasoned response.
To register a candidate of a parliamentary party it is not necessary to collect voter signatures.
Let us also remember that so far only the current head of state, Vladimir Putin, has successfully passed the nomination stage. Last week the Central Election Commission registered its initiative group, which on December 23 began collecting 300 thousand signatures in support of the candidate, who is participating in the elections as a self-proclaimed candidate. In total, according to the head of the Central Election Commission of Russia, Ella Pamfilova, 29 potential candidates notified the commission of their intention to participate in the presidential race.
The Russian presidential elections are scheduled for March 15-17, 2024.
