The BBC reported this news on Saturday, July 13.

Hamas stated that Israel had declared the area of al-Mawasi, where the attack occurred, a ‘humanitarian zone’ and had called on Palestinians to seek refuge there.

Meanwhile, an Israeli official claimed that the attack targeted the head of the Hamas military branch, Mohammad Deif. According to the official, the attack was carried out in an open area where only Hamas terrorists were present, and no Palestinian civilians were there.”

Khan Yunis’ Hamas commander Rafa Salama was also targeted, the Israeli official said.

However, Hamas rejected this claim. In their statement, they mentioned that Israel had previously claimed to target only Palestinian leaders, which was later proven false.

An eyewitness in al-Mawasi told the BBC that after the Israeli attack, it felt like an earthquake. The video from the scene shows debris scattered all around, fires burning, and bloodied Palestinians being carried away on stretchers.

A Hamas official said that this Israeli attack proves they are not interested in reaching a ceasefire agreement.

Israel has continued to attack Gaza since October 7. More than 38,000 Palestinians have been killed in the attacks so far.
