The next big patch for Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming soon, and by all reports it will be patchy, featuring a number of performance improvements and other fixes. Even better, Patch 2 will apparently address Minthara, who was hampered by what director Swen Vincke called a “very stupid bug.”

Speaking with IGN ahead of Patch 2’s release, Vincke talked about how the scope of Baldur’s Gate 3 can cause chain reactions that can sometimes lead to content being accidentally blocked. Such is the case with the apparent killer in Baldur’s Gate 3.

“The game is super interactive and there were some bugs that made some comrades not interact as well as they should. So it looked like the content wasn’t showing up. So you weren’t seeing him specifically with Minthara,” Venky explained. . “Then [lead writer Adam Smith] told me that there were about 1,500 lines of Minthara that didn’t show up due to a really stupid bug that we’ve now isolated. So we are solving it.”

He continues: “It doesn’t help that some of his lines aren’t moving. the others inside Chapter 3…then the people who were looking Furthermore, he is not there.”

“They found a difference in Minthara and we removed it because it became too complicated. So we didn’t have space in the game to tell that story. So they found some parts of it. So, it’s not like we cut anything on a large scale there. It turns out that Minthara also serves the power fantasy of becoming evil.

First we’ll fix the content blocking issue, then we’ll see how it lands on the fence, and then we’ll see if we can do anything extra with it
However, Larian Studios still leaves the door open for further development in the future.

“[W]rst we’re going to solve her problem by blocking her content, then we’ll see how she reaches her fans, and then we’ll see if we can do something extra with her. I mean, the feedback on the game has been incredible and overwhelming to us. So it’s definitely a lot more than we expected. So we absorb everything and then filter it. “So we’ll see where this goes,” says Finke.

“We made this game for the players, so they can have fun. If there are things that really didn’t work out, I think you can rest assured that we’ll probably do something about it at some point, except if we can.” “We don’t perform miracles. We are still a limited team, with a limited number of people who have worked very hard to make this happen.”

In addition to restoring access to Minthara content, Vincke says fans can expect a new ending for fan-favorite Karlach (he vaguely suggests that if you see a cigar, you’ll know you’ve found his new content), and that this will be “ make a lot of people happy.” It will also include improvements to cooperative play, as well as “a number of other things that people have been asking about.”
