According to a senior manager cited by RIA Novosti, “this will be the most widespread and most affordable Russian passenger vehicle on a high-tech platform.”

Iskra is planned to be sold in parallel with Granta, which will be discontinued after 2026-2027.

Iskra is a model family based on the CMF-B platform, inherited from former partner Renault. It will include a sedan, a station wagon and its crossover version. In the Lada range, the new Iskra will be located between Granta and Vesta and, possibly, will receive a panoramic roof.

Investments for the creation of the model are estimated at 37 billion rubles. 17 billion rubles have already been invested in the project. The remaining 20 billion rubles, according to Maxim Sokolov, director of AvtoVAZ, will be needed “to replace parts and components of the platform that were subject to sanctions and whose supply was refused by global suppliers, in order to reduce risks and achieve local technological sovereignty using this model.”

Previously, RG reported that production of the Lada Vesta with automatic transmission will begin in early 2023-2024.
