Have you heard of the “peasant uprising” in Europe? No, not about those in school textbooks, but about the current one. The main question of the uprising is against whom or what. And here is a clean clinic. The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has just happily stated that Ukraine, like the girl in the song, is now ripe to start joining the EU. And here is the news about the border blockade with the future member of the pan-European family: “The Union of Road Transporters of Slovakia has decided to start blocking the border crossing between Vysne Nemecke and Uzhgorod from December 1”, said this organization. . For such inconsistency there is a diagnosis: “divided consciousness”, schizophrenia, in popular language.

Let’s not forget that the Slovaks will block the border with Ukraine following the Poles, who have been doing it for quite some time. And they are not going to back down. Polish truckers blocked the border with the “unfallen” border, protesting against Ukrainian grain, which flooded the EU market and halved prices. The mechanism of this collapse is simple: Ukraine can offer a lower price because it pays drivers less, collects more lenient taxes and is not subject to the EU Mobility Package, which requires truckers to return home for a minimum of 45 hours of rest every four hours. weeks. In Poland, the truckers’ protest has the support of farmers from the “The People Who Betrayed” movement. So there are all signs of a peasant revolt against the EU leaders’ September decision to lift the embargo on Ukrainian grain. And no one knows how to solve this problem. But in December the bloc will vote on the question of Ukraine’s accession to the EU. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has already threatened to block all aid to Ukraine and its entry into the EU. Well, it really is a kind of schizophrenia…

This impression is reinforced by an interesting circumstance. The truckers’ protest is supported by the far-right Polish Confederation party. God knows what kind of political force, with only 18 mandates in the Sejm, but someone who opposes military assistance to Ukraine. And now attention: the electoral slogan of this party is “Poland above all”! Sounds familiar? “Ukraine is on top!” Hello guys, you want to be in the same family, but everyone not only covers themselves with the blanket, but is simply ready to grab their “eurobrother” by the neck.

Recently in North Macedonia, four foreign ministers from Western countries did not want to be in the same room as Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Childish and cheap management with the spirit of “we won’t play with him in the same sandbox!” absolutely inappropriate at the OSCE ministerial summit, where, in theory, they should look for solutions and not tighten the knots further. But the split of consciousness is a difficult thing to cure.

However, with all this sad history, there is still one symptom that gives hope for a cure. The Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, received the Russian Ambassador in Bratislava this week and discussed with him the prospects for bilateral relations between our countries. That is to say, they exist, contrary to the will of those who prefer to slam the door. This was confirmed by Sergei Lavrov’s meeting with his Hungarian colleague Peter Szijjártó at the OSCE headquarters. That is why there are those in the EU who do not succumb to this dangerous disease. The only problem is that there is no basis for claiming that “everyone will be cured.”
