Coach Jorge Sampaoli lost the Brazilian Cup with Flamengo and is experiencing new frustration, after unsuccessful work at Santos and Atlético-MG.
ISOLATION
Flamengo de Sampaoli has 39 matches, 20 wins, 11 draws and eight defeats. After the defeat in the first game, the team was unable to reverse the result to win the first cup of the season: they drew 1-1 with São Paulo.
Under Sampaoli’s command, Flamengo had already been eliminated from the Libertadores in a problematic way, after turning around the match against Olimpia, away from home.
In the coach’s opinion, the heavy environment is due to the crisis that already existed before his arrival and also the high pressure due to previous years having been victorious. The Argentine said several times that he was unable to leave the team as he would have liked.
Isolated in the day-to-day life of Ninho do Urubu, the coach should have his departure announced soon. However, he leaves the club with an important title personally and also to follow Flamengo aiming for 2024.
The board’s promise to him was that he would only stay until the second game of the final. He was protected only by President Rodolfo Landim, who went against the rest of the football leadership.

The Argentine is on his third job in the country. He had already coached Santos, in 2019, and Atlético-MG, in 2020. The work generated only one state victory in Minas Gerais.
At Peixe, Sampaoli lasted 63 games. There were 35 wins, 13 draws and 15 defeats. At the time, the coach himself resigned and handed the case over to the legal and HR departments. The departure at that time was considered imminent.
The frayed relationship with President José Carlos Peres and the problems with assembling the squad for the following season took their toll. Santos could not make large investments.
At Atlético-MG, Sampaoli played 39 games. There were 22 wins, eight draws and nine defeats. There, he won the 2020 Mineiro Championship, defeating the Tombense team in the decision.
He came to fight for the leadership of the Brasileirão, but had many stumbles in the final stretch, leaving only with a place in the 2021 Libertadores. Afterwards, he received an invitation to work in France, managing Olympique. With internal wear and tear, he decided to leave.
