A 2-year-old child was rescued after falling from the second floor of a building, in the Cachoeira do Vale neighborhood, in Timóteo, Vale do Aço region, in Minas Gerais. A 28-year-old woman, alleged to be responsible for the child’s care, was arrested in connection with the incident, which occurred on Wednesday night (20).

According to information from the Military Police, during the fall, the girl collided with the asbestos tiles of a garage. Despite the seriousness of the accident, the doctors responsible for the child’s care informed the authorities that her health was stable. The girl has remained hospitalized since Wednesday night and will undergo a series of medical examinations.

While the girl was being rescued, the 28-year-old woman went to the police and identified herself as responsible for the child. She reported that the girl’s mother had asked her to take care of the child, as she would not return home until the next day. However, according to the woman’s report, she had to leave at around 7:30 pm and left the girl sleeping at home while she went to a nearby cafe to buy food.

In her statement to the police, the woman explained that she locked the door to prevent the girl from accessing the stairs, but was unable to explain how the child managed to reach the balcony from where she fell. She stated that she was outside the house for about 40 minutes. After providing clarification, the woman was taken to the police station for further investigations.
