Singer Marília Mendonça, who died at the age of 26 in 2021, was nominated for a Latin Grammy for her posthumous album “Decretos Reais”.
Released this year, the work competes for the award for best country music album.
In addition to Mendonça, other Brazilians were nominated, such as the singer Iza, who is competing for best urban interpretation in Portuguese for the song “Fé”. Chico Buarque was nominated for best song in the Portuguese language for the song “Que Tal um Samba?”.
In the recording of the year category, singers Rosalía were nominated, with the song “Despecha”, Karol G, with “Mientras Me Curo Del Cora” and Shakira, with the hit “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53”.
Leading the list of nominees is composer and producer Édgar Barrera, with 13 nominations. Colombian singer-songwriter Camilo had seven nominations this year, the same number as Shakira and Karol G. The awards ceremony should be held on November 16th in Servilha, Spain.
