President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) opened, this Tuesday (19), the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), in New York. It is a tradition for the Brazilian representative to give the first speech at the meeting.

Lula began his speech by remembering the first time he spoke at the assembly. “20 years ago, I occupied this platform for the first time. I return today to say that I maintain my unshakable confidence in humanity, reaffirming what I said in 2003,” she said.
