SÃO PAULO, SP (UOL/FOLHAPRESS)

The driver who drove the car that overturned and killed three people this month, in Santo Amaro, in the south of São Paulo, was medically discharged, but died last Friday (15), one day after being released from hospital. The case occurred on September 3rd.

The 28-year-old man was discharged on Thursday and the police served a preventive arrest warrant (for an indefinite period) against the man due to his involvement in the accident. He had been hospitalized since the day of the accident.

However, the man fell ill while awaiting transfer for the custody hearing and was taken to Campo Limpo Hospital for medical care, but he died. The boy’s identity was not released.

Exams were requested from the IML (Legal Medical Institute) to help clarify the case, the SSP-SP (Public Security Secretariat) informed the report. The exact cause of the boy’s death was not disclosed.

The driver of the car was drunk, as previously reported by the ministry. Despite being hospitalized, he was arrested in the act and was held in police custody at the health unit for culpable homicide (when there is no intention to kill) and culpable bodily harm, both while driving a motor vehicle.

REMEMBER THE CASE

The SSP-SP reported that military police officers were called to respond to a traffic accident with a victim at a gas station. Three people died at the scene of the accident while three others (including the driver) were taken to Hospital Pedreira, UPA (Emergency Care Unit) Campo Limpo and Hospital Campo Limpo.

A gas station employee stated that he witnessed the accident and saw the car approaching the fuel tanks at high speed.

The establishment’s security cameras caught the car crashing into a fuel pump and three people being thrown out of the car. Before overturning, the vehicle had climbed onto the sidewalk and also collided with a palm tree, the ministry said.

At Campo Limpo Hospital, the driver (whose identity was not revealed) reportedly said that he was with his wife and four other friends in a bar and that they had all drunk alcoholic drinks. He admitted to being speeding and declared that he lost control of the vehicle before colliding, according to the SSP.

The driver took a breathalyzer test, which came back positive. It was not known whether the other two injured in the accident remain hospitalized.
