The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, stated this Monday, 18th, that Brazil has a unique opportunity to show that it is open to green business. According to him, the country has returned firmly to its environmental commitments and is seeking “ambitious results”.
“There is no divorce between sustainability and development. This is a thing of the past. The future is about sustainable development”, said Haddad, at an event organized by the National Confederation of Industries (CNI) and the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp), at New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
He also highlighted the need for Brazil to take advantage of a window that is now open for green business. In five years, he warned, it could close.
“We have to open our economy to green business, make Brazil a point of arrival, an investment that aims at economic sustainability, social sustainability, the sustainability of public accounts”, said Haddad.
The minister also defended greater interaction and partnerships between public and private companies. He cited, for example, a recent announcement by Petrobras and Weg. “Petrobras is looking to the future,” he said.
