The Orquestra de Rabecas do Cerrado promises to enchant the Federal District during the months of September and October. The group, whose mission is to promote the tradition of the Rabeca, this incredible instrument, present in various manifestations of Brazilian popular culture and also in different regions of the world, will travel around the city, showing its diverse musicality. Passing through Paranoá, Taguatinga, Ceilândia and Samambaia, the Orquestra de Rabecas do Cerrado will also bring, in each edition, very special guests, such as Martinha do Coco, Sivuquinha, Carol Carneiro, Bernardo Bittencourt, Kika Brandão and Fernando Cheflera. At the end of each group performance, a fiddle player will perform a show of their solo work, closing each edition with a big party. All with free and free entry.

  • 09/24 (Sunday, 5pm) Guests: Kika and Cheflera + Forró de Rabeca with Daniel Carvalho – Mercado Sul de Taguatinga
  • 01/10 (Sunday, 4pm) Guest: Sivuquinha + Performance by Rabeca with Gilson Alencar – Casa do Cantador de Ceilândia
  • 10/08 (Sunday, 4pm) Guest: Carol Carneiro + Forró de Rabeca with Jéssica Carvalho – Complexo Cultural Samambaia

Cerrado Rabeca Orchestra

The Orquestra de Rabecas do Cerrado appears in the heart of Brazil, in the Federal District, to enchant and show the strength and beauty of the fiddle to our people. Inspired by the diversity and scope of the Cerrado, the group presents a plurality of rhythms and sounds, strolling through the territories of popular culture, forró, festivities, without forgetting Arab influences, showing the fiddle as a universal instrument. Conceived and directed by Maísa Arantes, the Orchestra integrates the mastery of the city’s fiddlers and fiddlers, with the talent of percussionists and guitarists who, together, bring their own arrangements to the fiddles, with reinterpretations of traditional songs, in addition to a rich authorial repertoire. The group carries out presentations, workshops and experiences, providing a space for strengthening, promoting and enchanting the fiddle in DF. Currently the group is made up of the fiddles of: Maísa Arantes, Daniel Carvalho, André Soneca, Jéssica Carvalho and Danilo Chaib; by Marcelo Neder’s guitar; and the percussions of Nathália Marques and Marcos Ramalho.
