The pediatrics unit at Hospital Regional do Guará (HRGu) is undergoing revitalization and the first stage is the delivery of ten new beds. According to the Department of Health, the objective of the changes is to increase comfort and efficiency in providing care to children.

To minimize the impact on user assistance, space maintenance was divided into three stages, with beds temporarily reallocated to offices and the Emergency Room. The number of beds remains the same during adjustments, ensuring that service capacity is not compromised. In addition, there is signage indicating the changes at the entrance to the hospital unit.

In addition to the new beds, the initial phase includes the total replacement of the medical gas network, replacement of the floor and wall coverings, general electrical overhaul, replacement of the entire logical network, hydraulic overhaul and the installation of new cabinets. The second stage will deliver another five renovated beds. While in the third and final phase, finishing work will be carried out, including the visual identity of the space, the completion of the offices and the Red Room and an isolation bed. A toy library is also planned.

The superintendent of the Central-South Health Region, Ronan Garcia, highlights that the revitalization will improve services for both the population and health workers. “We are finalizing the first stage of the project and working tirelessly to deliver the three phases at the end of October,” he predicts.

Commitment

Teams from the Health Department (SES-DF) closely monitored the entire process of how the revitalization would occur, with constant visits from various technical areas. This prior work allowed us to develop new service flows, ensuring that they would not be affected.

For the director of HRGu, Roshni Babulal, the changes will bring improvements not only in the quality of care, but also in the treatment of patients themselves. “We will have a more welcoming and suitable place for children and their families. The toy library, for example, in addition to being a space for motor and respiratory physiotherapy, will be fun. This can reflect on patients’ recovery time”, she explains.

Currently, HRGu’s pediatric unit has a team of 13 professionals serving, on average, a thousand children per month.
