The drama series was created by Jay Carson, using Brian Stelter’s 2013 book ‘Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV’ as inspiration. The story revolves around the news anchors, staff, and crew members of The Morning Show (TMS), a morning news program that airs from Manhattan on the UBA network. The series takes real-life issues and creates seasonal narratives around them. For instance, the first season focuses on the MeToo Movement, while season 2 concerns the pandemic. In the third season, one of the issues that the series addresses is the overturning of Roe v Wade.
