Meta✴ has entered into a cooperation agreement with LG, which could result in an updated Quest Pro virtual reality headset that will go on sale in 2025 for around US$2,000, reports the Korean edition of Maeil Business Newspaper. The device will receive displays from LG, as well as components from other subsidiaries of the Korean electronics giant, such as LG Innotek. Additionally, in 2024, Meta✴ will launch a budget headset, the Quest, priced under $200.

After the announcement of the Quest 3 with a price tag of US$ 499, its predecessor Quest 2 dropped to US$ 299 and, in this context, a budget device of US$ 200 seems to be an interesting offer. Restyling in the premium segment also promises to be interesting: the current Meta✴ Quest Pro went on sale for $1,499, but later dropped in price to $999 – it turns out that its successor will be offered twice as much. It will be called Meta✴ Quest 4 Pro, according to a Korean source, and this is an unexpected decision, as previously the numbering of the Quest and Quest Pro models was separate.

And the collaboration between Meta✴ and LG fits well into the former’s strategy: Lenovo was involved in the Oculus Rift S headset and Xiaomi was in charge of launching the Oculus Go. It is true that both products were cheap, in contrast to the “professional” line of virtual reality headsets: Meta✴ Quest Pro is positioned as something of a testing ground for innovative VR/XR solutions that won’t be immediately available on consumer devices. Also with the new Quest 4 Pro, the Meta✴ will clearly try to compete with Apple and its Vision Pro headset.
