What can you do to achieve a record speedrun time. In Larian Studios’ fantasy RPG Baldur’s Gate 3, for example, enthusiasts need to provoke the corpse of an allied character. But first things first.

The day before, American streamer ImTaiyl set a world speed record for Baldur’s Gate 3 – 3 minutes and 57 seconds (excluding downloads), 18 seconds ahead of the closest pursuer in the person of Mae.

A significant improvement in time over the first entries (around 10 minutes) has been achieved by a new trick called Shadowboxing, which takes players straight to the end of the second act.

The trick involves killing the Shadowheart priestess and placing her corpse in a box – not simple, but necessarily set on fire. After that, the container with the body needs to be moved to a certain area on the screen.

As a result of the described manipulations, the game, for some unknown reason, takes the user to the end of the second act, where it is possible to unlock one of the endings of Baldur’s Gate 3 (though far from the best).

For the foreseeable future, speedrunners will continue to improve Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrunning times by improving the use of Shadowboxing. It’s also possible that Larian wants to fix such a significant bug.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available now on PC (Steam, GOG), will launch for macOS and PS5 on September 6, and will appear on Xbox Series X and S at the end of November. The bug also provided an excessively high level of craving for companions in the game.
