French stocks closed lower again in trading Thursday local time (17/8/2023), recording losses for the third day in a row, with the benchmark CAC 40 index on the Paris Stock Exchange shedding 0.94 percent or 68.51 points to settled at 7,191.74 points.
The CAC 40 index slumped 0.10 percent or 7.45 points to 7,260.25 points on Wednesday (16/8/2023), after falling 1.10 percent or 81.14 points to 7,267.70 points on Tuesday (15/8 /2023), and strengthened 0.12 percent or 8.65 points to 7,348.84 points on Monday (14/8/2023).
Of the 40 stocks of selected large companies that are components of the CAC 40 index, only six stocks managed to record profits, while 34 other stocks suffered losses.
Worldline SA, a French multinational transaction and payment service company, suffered the biggest loss (top loser) among the leading stocks or blue chips, with its share price dropping 3.51 percent.
Followed by shares of technology companies providing software application services designed to support client enterprise innovation Dassault Systemes SE slumped 3.34 percent; and the fashion house that designs, manufactures and distributes accessories and personal luxury clothing Hermes International SCA fell 2.71 percent.
Meanwhile, Sanofi SA, a pharmaceutical industry company that offers medicines, generic drugs, food supplements, cosmetics and medical devices rose 1.39 percent, becoming the top gainer (top gainer) of the leading stocks.
It was followed by shares of French multinational operator Carrefour SA, a supermarket, cash and carry store operator and e-commerce website, which rose 1.06 percent; and French multinational oil and energy company TotalEnergies SE gained 0.78 percent.
