In a statement on Sunday (September 22), Iran-backed Iraqi armed group Islamic Resistance said it had carried out drone and missile attacks on “important targets” in Israel. However, it did not say exactly where the attack was carried out.
They said, however, that at least two targets in northern Israel were struck with multiple advanced cruise missiles and drone strikes were carried out at other locations in southern Israel.
The group added, “This attack is in solidarity with our people in Palestine and in response to the massacre of civilians, including Palestinian children, women and the elderly.”
Israel’s Army Radio confirmed the attack. But they said three drones launched from Iraq were destroyed. No injuries or damage were reported.
Israel’s influential media Yedioth Ahronoth also reported on the attack. They said the strikes were repelled south of the Israeli-occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
