On Sunday, September 24, a 78-year-old man lost his life after being brutally attacked by his own son on the premises of an Emergency Care Unit (UPA) in Ponta Grossa, in Campos Gerais.
The victim was at UPA Santa Paula to receive medical care when a heated argument broke out between him and his son. The conflict escalated dramatically when the son, in an act of extreme violence, used a thermos to hit his father in the head, causing serious injuries.
UPA Santa Paula employees tried to intervene and contain the attacker, but ended up suffering injuries in the process. The elderly man, identified as Carlito Rogalski, received immediate medical attention at the UPA, however, he was unable to survive his injuries.
The Military Police were promptly called, resulting in the arrest of the attacker. In a note issued to the aRede portal, the UPA team expressed deep regret for the tragedy. The note says: “The UPA team regrets what happened and sympathizes with the family and friends of the victim of the incident. Furthermore, it is available to the police to collaborate with the investigations of the case.”
